Avery Roberson
Avery Roberson asked Jessica Day George:

This is part two of my previous question. Do you have a job other than writing amazing books (and probably not as amazing first drafts)? What do you recommend I major in in college? Thank you so much! Oh, the not so amazing first draft part was just a guess, I wouldn't be surprised if all of your drafts turn into books! You are an amazing writer who makes amazing characters, thank you for that too. I also knit .

Jessica Day George My other job is that I am a mom with three kids. My husband works full time, and most of the bills are paid by him. I am now making more than I did at my old "day jobs," though. It just depends on your lifestyle and your family, I guess. I know plenty of writers who are the only support to their families, and plenty who have day jobs or a spouse who works. Everyone is different. And speaking of everyone is different: I have no idea what you should major in in college. You should look at what interests you. My degree is in Humanities/Comparative Literature, and I minored in Scandinavian Studies. I am the only author I know who did that. I know authors with degrees in English, Creative Writing, Accounting, Anthropology, Archaeology, Biology, American History, Education . . .
