Goodreads asked Laurie Wetzel:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Laurie Wetzel Unclaimed--and all of the other stories I'm creating--come to me in dreams. When it first started, I had been reading a lot. I went from 1-2 books a year to about 30, and those were in the first six months. Now, occasionally when I read a book or watch a movie, I'll dream about them. Except my dreams would be me changing things I didn't like about the story. After reading so many books, my brain was on hyperactive overdrive. The dreams began to change into a story I didn't recognize. Each night it would pick up where the previous night left off too. It was so vivid. I loved it! Ultimately I didn't want to forget the dreams so I began writing them down. I'd written as a kid and was good at it and dreamed of being an author, but writing a novel is a whole heck of a lot different than an english paper! Once I'd gotten a good chunk of the story done, I shared it with my husband. He gave me the encouragement I needed to pursue my dream.
