If you have a concept or a character write it down straight away. Even if you are busy. It is spontaneous thoughts that are the best ones. I often suffer from insomnia and find it is most prevalent at night when all is quiet and I am at one with my thoughts. Most of my writing is done in the witching hours. If I don't write it down I will be restless and have a sleepless night.
