How do you come up with names for the countries in your books? I'm a writer too, but I can never come up with names for my countries in them....

Oooh, good question. Because it's HARD, let me tell you! I've "cheated" a bit in that some of my country names are the names of cities or places in countries similar to the one I'm writing. For instance, Westfalin is a region of Germany, and my Princess books are set in a country like Germany. Breton is England, etc. For the new book I'm doing, The Rose Legacy, I looked up the Latin for the Crown or Kingdom for the main country, because they are all about their royal family and the king's divine right to rule, but for the smaller country I went with Leana, which is Gaelic for meadow.

In Princess of the Silver Woods, is the story of the Nine Daughters of Rusaka based on anything? It seemed sort of like an extension of Rapunzel or something but I was looking and I didn't see anything related to the story in terms of Russian or other European mythology. Also I assume Rusaka is Russia and Alalousia is France equivalents in Ionia, am I correct? I know Westfalin is Germany and Breton is the UK.

Hey Mrs. Jessica! I absolutely love your books! They were my childhood and still my current life! I was wondering if you would maybe consider letting me do an author interview for my blog? I completely understand if you don't want to, considering you are very busy and my blog is really small, but all it would take from you is answering a few question I send to you. No hard feelings if you don't want to! :)
