Alexa Chambers
Alexa Chambers asked Jessica Day George:

How do you come up with names for the countries in your books? I'm a writer too, but I can never come up with names for my countries in them....

Jessica Day George Oooh, good question. Because it's HARD, let me tell you! I've "cheated" a bit in that some of my country names are the names of cities or places in countries similar to the one I'm writing. For instance, Westfalin is a region of Germany, and my Princess books are set in a country like Germany. Breton is England, etc. For the new book I'm doing, The Rose Legacy, I looked up the Latin for the Crown or Kingdom for the main country, because they are all about their royal family and the king's divine right to rule, but for the smaller country I went with Leana, which is Gaelic for meadow.
