Mauri asked Jessica Day George:

I am having trouble finding good books for my 16 year old son to read. He loves to read, which means he has read a lot of books. My problem with most teen books is that that have too much bad language and sex for me to be comfortable in giving them to him. I made the mistake once of not pre-reading a book and he came to me and said he couldn't finish the book because there was a f-bomb in it. Any suggestions?

Jessica Day George Hmmm. Yep, it's hard. I would go for a lot of the "old school" fantasy and sci fi, personally. My son loves The Hobbit, we just both read (reread, for me) The Dark is Rising, Lord of the Rings, The Shannara books by Terry Brooks. My son is now super into The Martian- The Classroom Edition. Make sure it's the classroom edition! Andy Weir took the F's out so they could use it in schools.
