Goodreads asked Duncan P. Pacey:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Duncan P. Pacey No matter what you do, finish writing something. Even if you think it's trash, even if it ~is~ trash (which it probably isn't), finish writing. When you finish work, you can get it edited - and editing is a monumentally educational experience. Plus, you get to say you finished something, which is a milestone. That sense of achievement will go far. So, even if you hate your work and want to bin it, DON'T. Finish it. Get it edited. Publish, learn, move on.
