Goodreads asked Lilliet Garrison:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Lilliet Garrison If you're going to write Christian non-fiction, as I do, remember to keep the message about Jesus and not yourself. Of course a testimony about how God changed your life is inspiring to others. I don't write the way most women do, meaning I am very logical and less emotional. I dont care for emotion-driven teaching and writing, as the style is too self-centered for me. I prefer to read books that are full of what faith can do in your life.
My second piece of advice is to continually look to God to make your writing career happen, in His way and in His timing, which is usually much slower than we would like. Keep your focus on the Lord, spend time with Him, and He will get you there. The tendency is to forget Him in the process or to look to worldly advice about how you can advance your books. I have chosen not to follow this advice and rely solely on the Lord. That way I can see Him at work...and not my own efforts.
