Goodreads asked Sharon Clark:

How do you get inspired to write?

Sharon Clark Various ways.

When my baby boy, Jeffery, was diagnosed with a brain tumour I felt a need to inform other parents of what to expect and the pitfalls to avoid.

When I was doing an undergraduate science degree, Botany and Zoology were requirements. I was floored by all the amazing things I was learning. It instilled in me a life-long love of nature and I wondered why I had never been introduced to any of this in childhood. Yet my children had no interest in nature books that I tried to introduce them to. Their response was "boring Mom!" So, I decided that I wanted to write nature books in a story format as a way to make learning fun. My math books are whimsical and set to rhyme. And I have been fortunate to have found Roberto Gonzalez who has done beautiful graphic illustrations for these books.
