I had to have heart surgery and I had to take it easy. I always wanted to write and I now had time, so I challenged myself to see if I could do it, and I found that I liked it and enjoyed the process. I tend to write from the seat of my pants so there's always the chance that it'll go off the rails. After finishing the first book, I felt this was something I wanted to continue doing, so I did.
