I have found that while some ideas come in dreams, conversations, or the shower...in reality, true inspiration comes in tandem with good writing habits. I don't fully get inspired until I get a few pages into what I'm writing. Therefore, 3-4 hours of quiet time, coffee, and instrumental music in the background are requirements to get the ball rolling.
