I'm a stringent 'architect' and so my plans are robust enough to know where I need to go next almost all the time. Still, my output becomes sluggish at times or I find the forward momentum slipping into a dip and need to rescue it. There's no surefire way to deal with this other than lots of thinking and tinkering.
