Goodreads asked Sandra Julian Barker:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Sandra Julian Barker Keep writing. I'm sure you've heard that before, but it's a basic necessity that aspiring writers sometimes don't follow. Plus, continue to learn HOW to write - not only in what you are saying, but also in learning grammar, spelling, punctuation, paragraphing, formatting and flow. These things may sound boring and unimportant, but a sloppy manuscript is hard to read - and hard to take seriously. So, polish your craft as you go along. Write your story and then start the polishing process. Don't be afraid to write. Get words on paper - whether anyone else ever sees those words, or not.
I wrote my first book 30 years ago and it still hasn't been published. But, it gave me the best feeling of fulfillment to have completed a book and it inspired me to know that I could do it, and to continue on that track. Today, I have 11 books available on Amazon and two more in the pipeline.
Lots of people say they're going to write a book someday. You be that person who actually does it!
