I am listening to Darkness of the Fens. I also happen to be reading Elly Griffiths’ The Stone Lantern. Both books take place on the fens and have a pub called The Hanged Man. Is there such a pub in the area? Or was it pure coincidence?

Hello Liz
As far as I know there is no pub here called that, but it is a favourite of crime writers when mentioning folk lore in their books (due to it's gruesome connotations!) So, it's pure coincidence, and oddly enough I was listening to an excerpt from an MC Beaton book last week, and there was The Hanged Man again! We writers must get more imaginative! Ha-ha!

I am sorry to hear that you have been ill, and I hope your recovery is going well. Today I was happy to start listening to "The River's Edge" read by Richard Armitage. I have enjoyed all of this series as well as the Matt Ballard books. They offer everything a great mystery novel should have: compelling plots, exciting action, interesting and fully developed characters, and satisfying conclusions. Will there be more?

Hi Joy! 'Beware the Past' is one of the best crime thrillers I've ever read. I loved it so much. I’ve now started with the DI Nikki Galena series. As someone who religiously takes notes while reading detective novels, I noticed that there is a character called Rory Wilkinson who appears as the medical examiner in both books. Do all your books take place in a shared universe (like the MCU!)? Will there be crossovers?

Hello Joy so pleased & excited to hear there be more Jackman & Evans read them all & almost finished reading all the Nikki Galena . I am falling in love with the characters & enjoy Seeing the development of their relationship especially with Nikki & Joe Easter I find the story lines quite exciting I hate to put the book down. But I'm afraid I'm not a fan of Matt Ballard. Do you have favorite characters?
