How do you get inspired to write?

Scion Fra Good question. I think it is different for everyone. For me, I have had several successful careers. I served over twenty-one years as a US Army officer, then as a senior executive for a large k-12 school district, in between those careers my wife and I owned a gourmet coffee shop for seven years and various types of real estate. Now, I'm finally retired, fully retired. I'm able to do pretty much what I want with my time. Of course, my grandchildren are a priority and thus they are my inspiration. I loved telling the grandkids stories and that eventually led to writing and publishing a real book where they are the main characters. It was that promise I made to them that kept me going. So, now I can add "author" to my resume. It felt pretty good. Surprisingly, my grandkids want another book...
