Goodreads asked Richard Lear:

What’s the best thing about being a writer?

Richard Lear I love the creative freedom to create characters and worlds. Before I sit down at my laptop to begin a novel I already have a mental plot outline with some specifics plot points. I also will write down notes for character names, dialogue and actions. The best times are when I get in the zone where creativity flows easily to me when I'm in a 2-4 hour writing session. It's akin to a runner's high that kicks in somewhere during a run when you feel you're flying and could run for hours. That's the high I get from writing novels.
