Goodreads asked Richard Lear:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Richard Lear First, I need to make sure I'm setting aside time for daily writing sessions. Consistency is the key. Then, I just sit down, start with where I left off in a previous writing session and just pound it out. I always have instrumental music playing on my laptop, mostly movie and classical music. It acts as a calming, grounding background which helps me relax so that my creativity can flow. I find that after about an hour of writing the block as been lifted.
