Having just finished Yule be Sorry wanted to ask - when you say marzipan are you talking about that nasty yellow stuff from the shops? Or home-made almond paste with a hint of lemon juice? I loathe the former and adore the latter - and we put it on the cake in a relatively thin layer, about 0.5cm rather than 1cm.

Sadly, both! The shop-bought stuff is awful, but a friend also made me homemade marzipan at one point. I was not a convert, although admittedly it was better. I'm still very happy to stick to my marzipan-less cake :)

Just wanted to say I've really enjoyed the Gobbelin London books. When is the next one planned? I'm currently reading Yule be Sorry as needed some light reading and do enjoy the descriptions of the different houses and the food. Oh, and kudos in particular for calling a book Game of Scones.
