Goodreads asked Imogen Keeper:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Imogen Keeper I saw a discussion happening about Western novels--they were saying how fascinating it was that you had people who existed inside the law, and people who existed outside the law.

And my brain immediately went--whoa, what would that actually look like today. What if we just had some people who the law didn't apply to. At all. You could do anything to them. And they could do anything to you. The only rule for an Outlaw is whatever limitations exist in their own mind.

So then, of course, you have to be able to see an Outlaw, right? Boom. Nanochips.

And then suddenly, I had a character who'd never done anything wrong being randomly turned Outlaw. Whoa! Why? What did she do? She didn't do anything. No she did EVERYTHING?

Uh oh. Wait what?

What did she do?

She fell in LOVE with an Outlaw--a secret bio-engineered super soldier trapped in an underground lab.

And voila. Tierney and Three were born.

And that, my friends, is how my chaotic brain creates.
