Write. It sounds ridiculous and obvious, but writing is the best thing to do if you want to be a writer. Practice your craft. RP with fellow authors. Beta for other authors. Read books in the genre you want to write. Listen to audiobooks in that genre. Learn what is expected by a reader in that genre, so you don't disappoint your fans. But mostly, just write.
