April Henry Books for me take about 6 months of focused writing, but there is lots of other time in there - planning it out, revising it, then doing the edits my editor wants.

Yes, that case did inspire the book. Do you live in the Pacific Northwest? Most people are not familiar with that case. I still remember reading about how they had found his skull and knowing immediately it would be a book.
