How do you get inspired to write?

Sara Staggs I write about things that matter to me. I find that if I can relate in a personal way to the storyline, I am much more invested in the piece, so there is usually a little part of my life somehow embedded in my work - maybe it's the location, maybe it's the subject or part of the subject, maybe it's a piece of a character. I also love starting with a "What if...?" with regard to the subject. So, writing from life and giving it a "What if..?" twist inspire me to sit and type.
