There are lots of different ways of getting a book published, especially these days. What I did, which I recommend, because it brought me lots of good people to help me, is going to a writing conference. It taught me a lot of do' and don't's both in writing and in publishing, and introduced me to my agent. She reads my manuscripts before they go to the publisher and will help me polish it so it's the best it can be, then she negotiates with the publisher for the best book deal, etc. After that you work with an editor who is experienced and helps you make your book even better, then they publish the book. That's how I do it!
