TheBookishCowgirlBri (not accepting fq) asked Jessica Day George:

How long would you say it takes you to write one of your books?

Jessica Day George It depends on the book, and not just the length. When I came up with the ideas for both Dragon Slippers and Tuesdays at the Castle, for instance, I came up with the whole idea, the basic plot, all at once. They both took about 4 months for me to do the rough draft. A few more months for working out the problems with the help of my editor. Silver in the Blood was more of a loose idea, and it was a real world setting, so first I did a ton of research, then I started to map out the plot, and that all took years!
