Reading Ash and Sand, I got the impression that you are quite passionate about certain ideas and ideals, which left me wondering: What would you say were you biggest philosophical influences?

I hardly know, and I'm definitely too ignorant to preach. I'm mostly just filled with really annoying questions, and fiction is a way for me to ask and explore them. The fundamental question of Ash and Sand might be: what is the purpose of power? There are a great many other questions, but I think if you look at the different main characters in this story they all beg that question. Perhaps a more learned philosophy student than myself can tell you which wise scholar might best have explored this subject!

Up there. Sorry that wasn't really a question, I just really thought you deserved my admiration. My question was 'Is Ruka ispired by two of my all time favourite characters in fantasy? As although he is an enthralling, complex character himself, he almost seems like a cross breed of a certain K....s and C...r. Taking nothing away from him, he is my favourite new literary character. My fantasy saviour
