Goodreads asked Doug Walsh:

What’s the best thing about being a writer?

Doug Walsh Tremendous job satisfaction in knowing that I helped create something. Even licensed merch books like videogame strategy guides, books that don't exist if not for dozens of software developers, artists, editors, and designers, were a source of great pride for me. After thirteen years and over a hundred books later, I still got excited when my box of author's copies arrived, or when I see my books on the shelf. The money was very good, I loved working from home and having a flexible schedule, but nothing beat walking into a store and seeing three or four books I wrote on the shelf.
