How much research do you do for each book?

Amy Lillard Each story has its own dictated amount of research. Southern Hospitality required a lot more research into police procedural and court behaviors than it appears on the surface. The book I'm working on now features a prominent Mennonite character. I've had to do a lot of research to uncover the more subtle differences between the Mennonites and the Amish. I also do a lot of research as I go along. As a former history major, I can get lost in all the books and websites and everything available to me to use for research. Sometimes it's better to start he story and then stop when necessary.
