My middle name is Derrick!...I used to tell my passengers on open-top bus sight-seeing tours of London about your namesake (my dad's too!) ...who used to 'hang 'em high' at Tyburn (Marble Arch)...& the derivation of the word for the tower over an oil-well...& the use of derricks in the Thames-side docks down by London Bridge (The Steelyard)! Are you any relation of the famous hangman?! So long, pilgrim!

Hi Andrew. It's not often you meet someone that has Derrick as a first (or indeed a middle) name. In my experience it's usually its spelt Derek if that's the case. I didn't realise there was a Derrick involved at Tyburn - I'll have to investigate that! Maybe I am related - who knows. Haha...wouldn't that be something! Cheers. Keep well.

Have read Louis L' Amour's Education of a Wandering Man? I have " just", read it again for the third time, About ten years in between readings and loved it again. I am on chapter 10 of my first book, and this book just inspires me, and puts into words my feelings about books better than anything I could come up with. I think I will read the walking drum again also. Thanks for being a writer, Your an inspiration also.
