Goodreads asked Jane McGarry:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Jane McGarry Normally, if I am not sure where to go next in the story, I put the work down and let the question simmer in my head. Most of the time, a solution pops into my head out of the blue when I am doing the most ordinary tasks - grocery shopping, working out, driving in the care- or just when I am drifting off to sleep. Even though I walked away, my sub-conscious is always working on the problem. Sometimes I just need to get out of my own way.I try to keep a notebook or my phone handy to jot down the ideas when they come, then, when I return to writing I have them as a reference.
