What are you currently working on?

Elliott Foster The working title of my next book is "In The Heart of Everett Falls," a coming of age story set in the mid-1970s in far northern Minnsesota near the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. While that time frame (and some of the story line) mirrors my own coming of age experience, the 1970s was deliberately chosen, along with the BWCA setting, in order to introduce a second, integrated, and concurrent story line. That parallel narrative, which is the vehicle for pushing the entire novel's story line forward chronologically, focuses on the intense environmental and political debate over the future of the BWCA as a protected wilderness area. In addition to this serious, real-life drama and the fictional, innocent coming-of-age story line, the readers will hopefully enjoy some fuinnier, outrageous characters who play a central role in bringing the novel together into one inter-related and compelling read.
