I'm reading Sun And Moon, Ice And Snow. I've heard the original tale but I don't remember it very well and I was wondering if it was your idea to not name her or if that's just the way it's supposed to be (like how Rapunzel is supposed to be Rapunzel)? Also, I wanted to say that you're basically my favorite present-day author. I haven't read all of your books yet but I've loved what I have and I want to read more!

Jessica Day George The original story is East o' the Sun, West o' the Moon. She's just called the lass in most translations, or the Woodcutter's Daughter. I thought it was interesting because in a lot of Norwegian fairy tales, the main character DOES have a name (and yes, Askeladden is the default name for scrappy young heroes.), and I decided to make her namelessness a part of my version of the story.
