Write what you love to read. Also, read a variety of things. I wasn't exposed much to the romance community until I went to a writer's conference and met a few awesome romance authors. I read their books and my mind was blown! Plus, connect with other writers. Romance is such a welcoming and collaborative and generous community. I still can't believe how many wonderful people I met here!
