Goodreads asked Natasha Yim:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Natasha Yim My most recent published book is Goldy Luck and the Three Pandas. About 12 years ago, I attended a writer's conference and heard, for the first time, the term "fractured fairy tales". I wanted to try my hand at one, and after several initial attempts, settled on the Goldilocks story. I had always been bothered by the ending where Goldilocks runs away after messing up the bears' home and wanted to rewrite it with a more satisfying ending and a better message for kids (we make mistakes but we own them and make amends). The story came in layers: first, with an eye for a better ending, then deciding to give it a multicultural twist with a Chinese Goldy, then to use the diverse background to give kids some insight into Chinese traditions and rituals and what better way to do this then setting it amidst the largest Chinese festival of the year - Chinese New Year!
