Goodreads asked Debashish Irengbam:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Debashish Irengbam It was a just crazy moment during my scriptwriting course in 2009. I was struggling to find an idea for a script when I figured - how intriguing would it be if there was a story about a guy who fell for a girl with Dissociative Identity Disorder? What would their relationship be like?
However, at the time, I felt it was too whacked out an idea to pursue, so I forgot about it ... until a year and a half back when, during a rather down phase of my life, I got this picture out of nowhere of a guy lying down in the middle of a railway track, completely at peace. The more I tried to imagine what his life story would be, the more I found myself drawn towards the idea. I knew it was going to be a love story. But then, the question arose - what kind of a partner could he get? That's when Mia returned to my head in the form of that girl with the two alters. The concept of the relationship between a manic depressive suicidal guy and a girl with DID was, in my mind, an utterly improbable one. But this time, it was this same challenge that kept me going and hooked onto their story.
