The inspiration for Raskolnikov's Disorder was a painting by the French artist Leon Matthieu Cochereau: Portrait of the Artist in his Studio. I kept staring at it, and as I did so, it began to seem to me that he was waiting for someone to release him from imprisonment as if he had painted himself into the painting. From that thought, the two sisters Rhenium and Astatine were born. They too heard his cry for help and responded, but bear in mind: At least one of them suffers from Raskolnikov's Disorder.

Hey. I just saw you liked my review of James' The Ambassadors. I found it absolutely horrible and almost unreadable. It made my downright angry. I had the impression it's a wilful attempt to make the goings-on as opaque as possible and put obstacles in the readers way. Do you think the same?
