Goodreads asked Claire Ryan:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Claire Ryan Write. Write every day. Write as much as you can. Read over it when you're done and obsess about it. Take classes on literary analysis if you can, and hammer that process into your head so that you can dissect your own work.

Believe that your work has merit and deserves to be published, while simultaneously believing that it's crap and has to be improved or everyone is going to laugh at you.

You will spend about 20-50% of your time feeling insane. Talk to other writers so you don't feel alone in that respect.

Drink tea. It helps, don't ask me why.
