I have several inspirations. The biggest one for me is knowing that I have an outlet for my creative expression. I have always been a storyteller, and having the outlet to express it is a neverending source of inspriation for me.
I watch, read, and listen to anythig sci-fi or fantasy. There are of course tropes out there, but there is great variety to be consumed. My setting has evolved over the years and I thoroughly enjoy seeing what others are doing, whether it is film, tv, books, or music.
I listen to music while I write. I find that it helps set the mood for the type of scene I'm writing. I know some like to write in silence, and there are times I do that as well, but I have found listening to music on a low volume in the background really helps me focus and inspires my creative flow.
