Goodreads asked G.K. Lamb:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

G.K. Lamb I would say make time to just do it. Not in a Shia Labeouf kind of way, but make time in your life that you can be alone and create. It’s really hard to do. There are so many pulls on our attention and there is always more work to do, bills to pay, chores to do. But if you make the time to work on your passions, you won’t regret it.

I would also say, work on pitching your book/art/movie early. Practice your “elevator story” with anyone and everyone. It takes work, but you want to be ready when the offer comes in.

And be persistent. Edit, keep working, and never let one, ten, or a hundred rejections keep you from pursuing your dream.

Having a support group and people who are willing, and able, to give constructive criticism helps a lot.
