Pamela Beason
Pamela Beason asked Trish Jackson:

Hi, Trish. I just found you on Goodreads, and I see we have a lot in common--I write mysteries, romantic suspense, and young adult suspense. I'm a working private investigator. All my books feature lots of animals: pet cats and dogs, wild cougars and bears and sharks, captive gorillas and elephants. I visited Zimbabwe a few years ago. I can't to read your books--are any set in Zimbabwe?

Trish Jackson Pamela,

Thanks so much for reaching out. It really does sound like we have a lot in common.

My very first published novel, Way Out of Line is set in the US and Mozambique, with a little mention of Zimbabwe, and my most recent story, Virgo's Vice is set 'somewhere in Zimbabwe,' but it doesn't really address much about Africa.

It hurt too much for me to write in depth about the beautiful country I had to leave up to now, but I have finally made a start on a story set almost entirely in Zimbabwe, starting with the farm grabs, which is still happening today. Bands of armed government-backed thugs go onto people's farms and take them by force, giving the owners a couple of hours to leave their family homes forever. They often shoot the dogs and hamstring the cattle, while the horses are left to starve. It's very sad, and it's definitely worth bringing attention to the situation. Ivory poaching and rhinos having their horns hacked off while they are still alive is also actually taking place, so this will not be a story for wimps.

I love the fact that you are a real life PI and include animal characters. I'll buy one of your books--I'm sure I'll love them. Is there one in particular you'd like to have reviewed?
