Goodreads asked Laurie McCammon:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Laurie McCammon Keep telling yourself you are enough for this. Self-doubt tries to creep in often when you are being bold and stepping up to share yourself with the world as a writer. When I did so, I never felt so vulnerable! Also, I would say to be patient with the process and honor your own sense of right timing. Writing is not just about putting fingers to keyboard. So much happens prior to that, sitting with an idea, talking it over with friends or family, researching, integrating it and embodying it. We tend to think we aren't being productive if we don't have something written to show for it, but I feel the writing is truly just the tip of the iceberg. What is seen on the surface has so much behind it and under it. Make sure to honor that and to honor the self that you are becoming as you hone your core message and contemplate how you want to be of service in this world, because everything you do and think counts.
