do you think this disease is ever a blessing in disguise? my mom has no idea where she is, etc. and i'm wondering....the fact that she is already "gone" mentally.....will this make it easier on the family to say good-bye when the times comes...especially for my dad. thanks for writing the book....i'm hoping to learn alot from it.

Yes, what a great question. I found blessings in my mother's lack of self-awareness. For years after diagnosis, she was free and happy in ways she hadn't been before. She loved and felt with her whole, passionate heart. Now, knowing she doesn't seem to fully realize what is happening does give me some comfort.

Kim, I am excited to read your book. Both my parents are deceased so I won't have to deal with this as a child. However I do deal with the effects of dementia on a daily basis with the patients that I care for, and I see how it effects their family members. Was it hard to write this book? Was it hard to be reminded of the relationship that you used to have with your mom?
