Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Connor Pritchard I was following a news story in 2007 when LAPD publicly ranked the city's top ten gangs and gang members. They were hoping citizens would use cell phones to offer up useful intel, but it backfired horribly when the gangs adopted the list as a competitive ranking system. At the same time, I was also reading Niccolo Machiavelli's infamous power manual, The Prince. The violent world of Machiavelli's Florence seemed to have a lot in common with the inner-city streets of America. A good/bad idea was born.
