I'm reading The Good Neighbor right now, and wondering about Hazel. She is such a sweet character - is she based on someone IRL?

Kimberly A. Bettes She absolutely is! I'm glad you asked. I know this sweet little old lady named Hazel, who really does knit and crochet nonstop. And once her husband died (the second husband she's out-lived), she began sitting in his chair. She absolutely will feed you to death, too. No one walks away from her house hungry. She's almost 87 years old now and still going strong. I love her to pieces and wanted to memorialize her in some way. I'm happy to hear that she left her mark on you. Hope you're enjoying the book. :-)
