Greysuits began as Harry Potter in space, basically. Technology would replace magic and the technology in question would be inaccessible to most people.
From there it sort of became superheroes in space, but still with an emphasis on a group of people going through a learning process together.
The Greysuits themselves are suits made of nanobots which can do all kinds of interesting things following the mental instructions of the wearer. All that stuff took a while to work out as I was writing, but I think I ended up with something fairly believable that was able to accomplish what I needed it to for the story.
