How do you get inspired to write?

Sara Tucker I'm just naturally nosy. People tell me stuff all the time that just blows my mind. They tell me because I listen. I'm a very good listener. That's how I discovered that my guide was a French spy. His own children didn't know that. Writing is my way of engaging with subjects that interest me. Other people take photographs. How do I get inspired? I try to notice when something is clamoring for my attention and just go with it. One day I might write about prisons, the next day about pantyhose. I just start scribbling about whatever is on my mind. If it's junk, nobody has to see it.
