Goodreads asked K.A. Coleman:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

K.A. Coleman I've never had to deal with writer's block to be completely honest. Even in high school and college, I started at the end of my papers and worked my way backwards as I wrote them. If I knew where my ending point was, I knew what points I needed to hit in order to get there. I think about most things in that regard.

With this book and even the series of three books, I knew from the beginning where I wanted to each of the characters to land and what obstacles would force the characters to grow and change. Writing is the easiest part of the equation for me.

If you don't know where to begin or get writer's block, start writing a different chapter or part of the piece of the paper. Readers may read from begin to end, but writers don't have to write in that same linear fashion.
