Goodreads asked Laura K. Curtis:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Laura K. Curtis Read every day in every genre. And write every day. Even if you have nothing to say, write. Get a book of exercises/prompts to give you ideas, or just start with "what if..." like "what if your kitchen caught fire and you couldn't get out?" Also, if you're looking for something to read, I HIGHLY recommend Reading Like A Writer by Francine Prose. It explains how to look at books when you want to improve your own work.
