Who is your favorite fictional couple, and why?

McCallum J. Morgan This answer may contain spoilers! Tom and Hester from Phillip Reeve's Mortal Engines, because they defy every convention. Tom starts out with a crush on a beautiful girl but ends up in love with ugly, mean Hester. Tom is gentle, sweet, and a bit bumbling, and Hester is cold, calculating, ferocious and hideous, to boot. They are beautifully written, full bodied characters and they make a wonderful (sometimes frustrating) couple.
