Who is your favorite fictional couple, and why?

Andrew James Pritchard There are in fact quite a few fictional couples which quickly come to mind when I’m asked that question. However, at the very top of the list would have to be Jane Eyre and Edward Rochester. Their relationship has a romantic tension to it with Jane falling for Edward even though she is beneath his class in society. Edward meanwhile falls for Jane despite such a relationship being rather at odds, not to mention Edward being trapped in a prior commitment. Therefore it would seem as if their relationship is doomed from the start on many different levels. Yet in truth their relationship was predestined to be, after all in a sense they are each other’s saviour, so after many difficulties and hardships it all works out fairly happily.
It is my opinion that nothing worthwhile comes easy, and that goes doubly so when it comes to romance and relationships.
Out of my own writing, my favorite fictional couple would have to be Ami Fujishiro and Ian Williams from my novel Sukiyaki. They start off as strangers coming from different cultures who end-up living next-door to one another. Nonetheless, from there they progress to childhood friends who eventually discover that they love each other. Their relationship goes through a lot of ups and downs, and just as they realize their love for each other they are separated… What happens after that you can read for yourself, but it all comes back to the idea that nothing worthwhile comes easy, especially when it comes to romance and relationships
