Ketley Allison
“He's an Elite executioner. She's the forbidden anomaly he's supposed to capture. The chase is on, and Falcen Reaves never misses.”
― Ketley Allison, Resonance

“You stole a piece of me back there. When you put your hand around my throat. I can feel the gap."
"It was merely a sip."
"Really? You looked like you enjoyed it. Almost as if you didn’t want to stop.”
― Ketley Allison, Resonance

Jaine Diamond
“His gaze holds mine for way, way longer than common decency requires.
I am in no way prepared for this.
I’m here to meet a grouchy seventy something woman, not the Hottest Bartender in the Galaxy. I don’t even have makeup on.”
― Jaine Diamond, Thirst For Me

“No boys for the rest of the year’ seemed like a really smart decision . . . earlier today . . .” She fades off as we stare into each other’s eyes.
Her hand slides up the back of my neck, into my hair, her nails scraping against my skin.
My lips graze her jaw, and she shivers.
“No boys, huh?”
I murmur in her ear: “How about a man?”
― Jaine Diamond, Thirst For Me

Marni Mann
“I had to remind myself that the whole purpose of standing here was to get out the emotions that were eating at me. It wasn’t to gaze in his eyes or smell his enticing cologne or take in this sexy beast of a man who had the ability to throw me on top of that bar and have me coming in mere seconds.”
― Marni Mann, The Irresistible One

Jaine Diamond
“She smiles.
Forget butterflies. It feels like an entire flock of doves just lifted off from my ribcage because I made her smile.
She slides the shot glass toward me again. “Third one’s a charm?” Her eyes twinkle at me, and everything around her seems to blur out. There’s nothing but her, me, and some vague sense of an annoying world somewhere beyond.
I have to force myself to look away.”
― Jaine Diamond, Thirst For Me

Marni Mann
“He leaned into my ear and whispered, “It’s okay to let your guard down for a second, Sophie, and it’s okay to lose once in a while. Don’t forget, I’ve seen you naked. Vulnerable. Screaming for more. You’re the sexiest woman in the world when you let go of that control.”
When he leaned back, I seethed, “Don’t you dare bring up”—I glanced to both sides, making sure there wasn’t anyone within ear range—“Lush.” The anger was beating in my chest. “Plus, you have no right to speak to me that way. Not here, not anywhere. What happened that night stays there.”
He smiled. “That’s right … seven orgasms is insignificant to you.”
My eyes went wide.
“Except, I think you were full of shit when you said that. I think you were trying to convince yourself that they meant nothing since the enemy is the one who gave them to you.” He continued to stare at me. “Yes, I’m right … I can see the way I affect you.”
“You infuriate me.”
He laughed and took a step back. “I love to hate you too, Sophie.” He turned around and walked to the exit.”
― Marni Mann, The Irresistible One

Tracey Jerald
“It hurts to realize just how different this could have been if I’d listened to my heart. If I’d trusted her.
If I’d believed in myself the way she apparently did and does.”
― Tracey Jerald, Break My Heart

“My attention unwittingly falls to his lips before I rip my gaze away and groan. “Penn.”
“Yes, Wynne?”
I turn back. “You’ve messed with the vibe.”
“What vibe?”
“Penn, I’m going to kill you.”
He sucks air between his teeth. “That would not be good for business.”
“Don’t play dumb.”
“I don’t have to play at being dumb.”
“Alright, that’s a solid and accurate self-own,” I admit. “But I’m serious. With you and me.” I gesture between us, my knuckles knocking against his broad chest. “You’re responsible for the vibe.”
His voice is a low rumble. “Meaning…”
I scoff, tired of Penn’s trailing half-sentences. “Meaning I’m not the one who played your arm like a sexy clarinet today, okay? So I’m not exactly sure how to proceed.”
He bites his bottom lip, barely containing his smile.
My cheeks are blazing. “Yes, I said ‘sexy clarinet,’ and I stand by it. That’s the best metaphor I can come up with on short notice.”
“Mm-hmm.” He nods, looking far too triumphant for my liking.
I grit my teeth, frustrated. Penn’s thrown me off today with his many surprises, and I know he’s thrilled to see me losing my cool.
“Well,” he says, eyeing me up and down. “You seem like you could use a break. So how about you head home, and I’ll help Theo. Later, we can address the vibes and… proceed.”
