“Pleasing everyone sometimes demands more from us than we can carry
A food preparer cannot prepare exactly what every individual guest wants. That is why a restaurant has a menu showing what is possible. A special request may be made, but circumstances determine whether it can be fulfilled. Asking never automatically guarantees that the answer will be yes.
Daily life works in the same way. People may ask us for help, attention, advice or time, but we cannot meet every wish. We also have to work, keep appointments, care for family, rest and build a better future.
Helpful people often feel guilty when they say no. From the heart, they would prefer to support everyone. But one person cannot be in two places at once or solve every problem.
Some people forget that others also have a private life, responsibilities, feelings and boundaries. They expect understanding when they are unavailable, but sometimes struggle to show that same understanding when they need attention.
That is why we must explain that important matters in our own lives also deserve priority. Work, health, family, rest and appointments are not excuses. They are part of a responsible life.
Setting boundaries does not mean rejecting someone. It means being honest about what we can and cannot carry. An honest no can be more respectful than a yes we cannot honour.
We do not have to exhaust ourselves to be good people. Help remains valuable, but it should not continually cost us our health, responsibilities or self-respect. People who truly respect us understand that our lives also deserve attention.
Pleasing everyone may appear kind, but it can demand more from us than we can responsibly give. A boundary is not a wall against others. It is a clear line protecting what we need to remain healthy, reliable and sincerely present.

“We live in a world where we have to sacrifice our comfort for the sake of others. Where we have to go an extra mile to meet others' needs. Where we have to dig deep in our resources to please others.”
